Pastor Walker was called by God and appointed by Bishop Keith A. Butler to open and Pastor the St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands church. Pastor Walker and his beautiful wife, Minister Sharon Walker, relocated from Detroit, Michigan to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands on July 3, 1997 to begin what would grow into a vision to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ across the Caribbean. On November 16, 1997, the church doors of #28 Anna’s Fancy opened with 225 people in attendance. The vision that God had given Bishop Butler, the Founder, on July 18, 1993 had manifested. An excerpt from the message is as follows:

What God is doing is doing is something that is larger than all of us. It is larger than me; it is larger than you; and it’s breadth stretches around the world. It began here in Detroit in 1979, but it’s going to spread beyond this nation and go even into the world, particularly Africa and the Caribbean. Mark 16:15 says,“And he said unto them, go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” That is our assignment, to preach the gospel, to make sure the gospel gets out, so that people may be saved, to teach them the Word of God, that they may grown thereby; that they can receive with meekness the engrafted Word which is able to save their souls (James 1:21); to renew their mind with the Word of God so that they can become efficient and effective members of the Army of God.

Psalm 11:6 says, “He hath shewed His people the power of his works, that He may give them the heritage of the heathen.”In Psalm 2:8 God says, “Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.”

The Lord has challenged me to do this. And I cam challenging you to stand with me to do this. god says, “Ask me for it. Ask me for the lost. Ask me for the heathen and ask me for the earth and all of its possessions to do the job.” The Lord challenged me with it and I am saying, “Yes, Lord, your servant hears. I believe you for the heathen in the inner cities. I believe you for the lost in the Caribbean. I believe you for the lost in Africa. And I will not take NO for an answer!!”

Although the first service was jam-packed with people ready to hear the Word, it would take faith, diligence and perseverance to continue on the path that God had began. In the weeks to follow, there would be two children and one adult in attendance with Pastor and Minister Walker multitasking to get the job done.

The ministry established an after school program that ministered to children of all ages and this would compel their parents to come and hear the Word of God.

In 2001, the ministry moved to 9147 Estate Thomas, the former Cinema One Building. The church is now located at 8354 Estate Contant (The Old Mill).

Since, its inception, Word of Faith, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands continues to experience significant growth by the awesome Power of God.
